Dr Peter Watts, Canadian science fiction writer, beaten and arrested at US border
And my Dad wonders why I am so freaking terrified of renewing my US visa, or of traveling there at all. What angers me, is that some people are saying Watts must have done something to provoke the guards. Surely he did, or they wouldn't have pepper sprayed him and beat him up, confiscated his paper notebook, his flashdrive, and his laptop containing his work. (and that detail terrifies as much as the prospect of being beaten and pepper sprayed).
