Went out with Kae-san and Myka-san yesterday in which we looked at pretty things, inhaled lovely little snips from the pretty things in Fully Booked, and had yummy Japanese lunch. :D (How do you think it's been since I had anything like gooey yolk in my food?! FAR too long! Aussies like eggs in the strangest ways and in the entirely wrong foods. "Egg on a muffin? Where is the sense in this?") And then, being the happy people we are, we bought ice frap drinks from Gloria Jeans and trudged happily into Harry Potter.

So. Harry Potter is *so* much slashier when you see it with your friends (or perhaps the second time around. But Myka and Kae certainly helped!)

Ex: Voldemort: I can....*touch* you now!
Kae: EEEEeeehhhehehehehehehe!
Me: *facepalm* Ok. How did I miss this the first time?

It’s just---fun, the way the first two movies aren’t. (But we all knew that already, didn’t we? :D) I love me the HP trio. For some reason though, they’re better at handling---or perhaps *deliberately setting forward* the Harry-Hermione dynamic over Ron-Hermione. Because movie!Ron? Is emotionally etiolated and clueless when it comes to Hermione (or hell, in some cases even *Harry.*) They just have this rapport of mutual understanding: Harry and Hermione can talk to each other and laugh about her relationship with Krum, about the particular foibles of their lives. Ron, clever boy that he is, simply threw a tantrum, while remaining clueless about the basics How To Be Good Friends With Your Friend Who Happens to Be a Girl. Which somehow seems to be a requirement before progressing into Something More.

It's telling, I think, that the movie ends with ROn brushing off Hermione's request that he write, while Harry smiles at her and says "of course I will."
